5. Class III elastics are used to establish Class I relationship with an occlusal plane change. The occlusal plane is rotated counterclockwise using .017 x .024 stainless steel archwires with 2nd order bends; tip-forward bends in the upper and tip-back bends in the lower, which are alternately placed into the respective archwire.
